I was able to access my floppy disk on another computer earlier today but now I can't on my home computer.
It tells me if I want to format it, the format is unrecognizable.
What should I do? |

Hi Pedro,
The problem is due to the fact that you have a file format that your Operating system doesn't recognize.
It is easy to recover your files. You just need to boot your computer with an operating system (in a bootable CD or Floppy) that recognizes both your Floppy's file format and your OS. Then copy simply copy your files from floppy to a folder on the drive that is carrying your OS.
Please let me know the following:
What Operating system do you have on your PC?
Was it the same OS on the other computer (the one that lets you access your files)?
and I'll be able to direct you to the right boot floppy or CD |

Do you have the same problem with all your floppies or is it just this one?
Windows XP should be able to read your floppy if windows 2000 was able to do So.
Also keep in mind that your floppy is a magnetic storage media and can be erased easily by a magnet or high currents of electricity, or even cell phones!
you might have erased your data accidentally |

Hi
I think There are better ways to transfer data from one computer to another and many new computers don't even have a floppy drive anymore. 3.5" floppy drive technology is well over 20 years old. The discs can only hold 1.44MBs (1.4MB on a Mac). Compare that to a 4GB flash drive which has about 2800 times more storage space.
Good luck
JONYE
